Where do you get your leather?Zen Buffalo Boxing Co. uses premium leather from Horween Leather Company in Chicago, Illinois.
-
What type of leather? We use Horween Leather. The Jack, The Dempsey, and The Joe use the Horween Dublin leather. It is vegetable tanned and infused with waxes and oils. It has a distinctive pull-up and will age with a beautiful patina over time. The Rocky punching bag uses the Horween Derby leather. It is vegetable tanned. It is Dublin tumbled. It has a more rustic, worn appearance, with a softer temper. It will age with a beautiful patina over time. Every hide of leather is slightly different than the next. Therefore, every punching bag we create is slightly different than the next. Each is one of a kind. Rugged and Refined. - A note on color range: Please expect there to be a color range with this leather. The oils and waxes can take differently due to a number of factors that will cause the color to vary from shipment-to-shipment. You will see the most variation with the English Tan and Natural. - A note on Natural: Think of Natural not as a color, but rather a condition of the leather. Horween applies a wax to the base leather color, and the wax will take differently due to a number of factors (ie. heat and humidity).
